The Road to Maine is Bloody Part 38

The man stood up and grinned, reaching a large calloused hand, shaking Stephen’s hand. “Thank you Stephen. It’s always a pleasure doing business with you.” Stephen nodded.

“Remember; don’t tell anyone we know each other. I’d hate to have to get rid of you too.” Stephen warned him and the man put up his hands in defense again, backing away.

“We’ve never met. I have to tell you although, it was sheer genius creating those fake letters to make Ashley think her mother were being threatened too. Don’t worry man, Annie didn’t suffer, I made sure she died quick.” The man told him and Ashley’s eyes filled with tears, not believing Stephen had something to do with her death.

“Let’s not bring up ancient history. I’ve gone this long without being found out, I don’t want to get caught now.” Stephen said and he was about to say something else when he heard something coming from the other side of the clearing. He put his finger to his mouth, looking at Tim and walked slowly toward where he heard the sound.

Ashley whimpered and turned to run. She ran as fast as she could, not caring that the thorns ripped at her arms and legs. All she cared about was getting away. She ran, sweat running down in her face and heard Stephen behind her but that was impossible, he should have been yards behind her.

She wasn’t looking where she was running and didn’t know the branch was there and it slammed into her legs with a solid thud and Ashley went sprawling, landing face first into a bush of thorns. She screamed in agony and got up slowly, groaning with pain and felt blood trickling down over her eye and she reached up, wincing when she touched the cut on her forehead.

Her hands were full of thorns but she had no time to remove them, she had to get out of here but before she could start to run, she slammed into a solid figure before her. Ashley’s eyes widened when she saw Stephen standing there and his eyes were different. They were yellow, almost glowing and when he opened his mouth, his teeth were pointed and black, just like Pennywise. Ashley screamed, trying to get away & Stephen held her tight. He growled deeply & sunk his teeth into her neck.
